Join experienced guides on a kayak trip of Lake River and Bachelor Tributary as you enjoy wildlife viewing along the Lewis and Clark trail. On Bachelor Island the paddle will stop for lunch. This is an 8-mile round trip paddle. Novice paddlers will need to use a double kayak.

For Birdfest participants who have purchased a Bluegrass button the boat rental will be discounted to $25. Children are free when accompanied by an adult in a double kayak. Please give a $10 donation for those with their own kayak/canoe.

Last day to make reservations for the kayak tours is October 1, 2008. This is a popular event and sells out quickly so book your spot now!. To rent a kayak or to make a reservation for your own kayak or canoe call Ridgefield Kayak @ 360-727-4520 or go to www.ridgefieldkayak.com.

October 10, 2008
Friday
5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Join the Lower Columbia River Estuary Partnership for a sunset paddle in a 34-foot canoe. Spot wildlife on the way to the mouth of Lake River at the Columbia River and learn about the natural history of the Refuge. Paddlers will enjoy the sunset on the river and be back on shore by dusk.

This is a perfect event for families, those less comfortable paddling their own kayak or canoe, or for people looking for a short guided tour on the water. We will meet at 5:30 pm at the Ridgefield public boat launch in the Ridgefield marina at Five Mill Street. Paddles and life jackets will be provided.

A $5.00 donation for adults to the Friends of Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge is recommended. Children under 12 are free with an adult.

Reservations are required for the big canoe tour. Space is limited so reserve your space soon by contact Jennie Klein of the Lower Columbia River Estuary Partnership at:
503-226-1565 ext. 222 or
